WHAT DECISION MODELS FOR WHICH FUTURE ? ■
There are times in our lives when the need to reflect on future decisions is more persistent. We still know little about how the transformations in our lives will take place following COVID 19, but there are few doubts about our difficulties in stating the right adjoining questions to increase our chances of answering them properly (for all).
Deciding is a matter of discernment, the very essence of leadership as it depends on a good understanding of the context of the dimensions relating to people, strategy and of course, the crisis itself. Among the main lines of thought, environmental issues play an important role, because they appear to be the "locomotive" of the evolution of our current economic, social and political models. The use of natural resources is at the center of the debate. Living better on our planet means finding a better balance between our needs and what the planet makes available to us. The dilemma is that there are no solutions without conflicting factors or only with benefits. Commitments on benefits go hand in hand with new risks. Investments, for example, in new materials, processes and energies can present new CAPEX / OPEX relationships and on which new balances will have to be found. |
Improving a badly led planet is unlikely to be a simple but not insurmountable movement. Still, it will be necessary to reflect on questions such as:
· Is it possible to reduce the carbon footprint in current decision-making models? · Shouldn't we revisit the classic decision support processes now questioned? · Are we going to get used to the idea that considering profits in the short term should take better account of the long term and all the necessary anticipations? · Can producing with new constraints not be a chance to respond to previously inaudible challenges? · Are there not productive scenarios (products or services) to be conceived with more chances of being accepted by decision-makers? Industrial Asset Management intends to take its place in this debate and we are counting on you to exchange views on the subject. To meditate… Celso De Azevedo, PhD, Assetsman CEO May 2020 Vertical Divider

ASSETSMAN AND THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY ■
ASSETSMAN has been active in the pharmaceutical sector for several years; GSK vaccines, Lilly France, IPSEN, TAKEDA and others, by implementing optimizations based on the Risk / Cost relationship for investment, maintenance and spare parts management decisions. It also intervenes to justify the choice of the renewal of industrial assets.
The very strong notion of "standard" and "compliance with regulatory standards" in this sector, dictated in particular by the FDA "Food and Drug Administration", implies a rigorous demonstration of risk exposure for all the optimization decisions envisaged . |
The differentiable value of our offer lies in the monetization and management of uncertainties around decisions with high financial stakes and value creation. ASSETSMAN implements its ASSETSVALUE solution for this type of demonstration which brings significant tangible gains every day for so-called "PRIMARY" or "SECONDARY" assets.

DISCOVER THE BOOK "LA gestion d'actifs" ■
In "La Gestion d'Actifs", Celso de Azevedo delivers the key elements of industrial asset management and guides the reader in setting up effective asset management within the company. Written for experienced readers or not, the author offers insights into the key elements of this discipline and the solutions to make optimal decisions in this area.
At no time does the author claim to hold an universal truth about how to solve all problems. Instead, the author highlights his own rich experience of many industrial scenarios and infrastructures around the world. He presents concepts of solution, not in the form of requirements, but rather in the logic of the methodological tradition of a scientist. Designed around the desire to "take the reader by the hand", the book, which can be read in one go or chapter by chapter, makes it go through the various segments of the life cycle of an asset. The four parts of the book follow the thread of a complete life of an asset, from its conception to dismantling. Experiences and stories of business professionals also highlight aspects of the different functions, tools and elements of asset management.
Technical without being ever unpleasing, the author proposes in this work a true positive vision of the discipline, based on a true conceptual rigor but illustrated by field experience. A book-reference! |

FIRST AIRPORT IN CONTINENTAL EUROPE TO OBTAIN ISO 55001 CERTIFICATION. ■
Geneva Airport received the AFAQ ISO 55001 certification from AFNOR, which confirms the use of internationally recognized good practices in the management of its infrastructure. By enabling the implementation of an integrated management system based on performance evaluation and continuous improvement, the new ISO 55001 asset management system is a pledge of competence. It demonstrates the existence of solid processes for the technical, administrative and financial asset management. It is the guarantee of a rigorous, framed, reliable and efficient asset management.
This certification is the culmination of long-term analytical work and adjustments that began more than four years ago. It also represents the starting point and a structuring framework for the implementation, sustainability and continuous improvement of the Geneva Airport asset management system. Leadership and corporate culture are key factors in achieving this certification. Commitment at all levels of responsibility is critical to successfully integrate and use these good asset management practices. |
The integrated approach and structure to optimize costs across the lifecycle was welcomed by the auditor. He also noted that the alignment between the Geneva Airport objectives and the asset management system was a reality. Geneva Airport proves its ability to manage its physical assets effectively and sustainably, based among other things, on criteria of criticality, risk and performance.
Geneva Airport became the first airport in continental Europe to obtain ISO 55001 certification. Vertical Divider
